The interruption of the Lausanne Peace Conference during the establishment of the People’s Party was an unexpected development at the political level. Because without the peace agreement, political stability in Turkey would not have been obtained. The new party, which was planned to be established by Mustafa Kemal Pasha after the peace, would have a com- pletely democrat character. In this process, important assessments were made in the press. These were about the peace conference and the new party. In the peace process, getting the support of the people and intellectuals and providing the appropriate mental ground for the party were also the main objectives. On the other hand, the guiding influence of the press in the political arena could not be ignored. In this study, the articles published in the press of the period about the political developments in the establishment process of the People’s Party, the news and statements in the newspapers about the subject will be examined by taking into account the dates February–March 1923. In the study, “document analysis” technique was applied to create a scientific text by employing qualitative research method. The materials were examined in accordance with the method required by the science of history and evaluated in the light of scientific principles.
